NEW - PoP 1 is audio and performance enhanced on the Atari STe

From 1989 onwards Brøderbund released the hit classic action platformer game 'Prince of Persia' on a multitude of systems such as the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and MS-DOS. A true brilliance for its time and still worth playing today, featured many platforming levels and high danger which was usually met with falling floors, sword wielding enemies, crashing grates and at worst deadly spikes. This incredible game however has again appeared in our news feeds, but this time thanks to a heads up by AtariCrypt has been audio-enhanced by Peter Putnik for the Atari STe.

But there's more to this than just Audio changes, as according to the source not only does the game now use DMA Hardware to handle the samples, but the gameplay is much smoother as well, which makes the game a perfect addition to your Atari STe gaming set up. For further information head on over to the main website (http://atari.8bitchip.info/SCRSH/princofps.html) and check it out, you'll not be disappointed!

Prince of Persia 1 for Atari XL/XE

Prince of Persia 1 Atari XL/XE

Another hot news story for you all, as we have just been told through twitter that the all time classic platformer of Prince of Persia - a game which has been released for many different systems back in 1989 by Broderbund, has finally been made available as an incredible port for the Atari XL/XE. Prince of Persia is not only a game that featured lots of well designed platforming levels, but the game was full of danger as you must be careful not to fall through loose floors, get hit by sword wielding guards, crushed by gates or at worst skewered in blood on deadly spikes.

Prince of Persia for the Atari XL/XE has been featured many times already either as work in progress videos or short play through demos thanks to Rensoup. Thankfully today is the day you can play the full game, which has had the code ported from the BBC Micro, all in game animation frames and all cutscenes implemented and re-tweaked by TIX, a tune-set conversion with a great oriental vibe by VinsCool, an amazing title picture by Sparkler, all 14 levels playable, a mystery bonus and much much more!! So yes if you loved Prince of Persia, and you've been eager to play it on your Atari XL/XE, now's your chance!

The port is based on the BBC Master port by Bitshifters: https://bitshifters.github.io/posts/prods/bs-pop-beeb.html
